I get into a lot of arguments about this concept on social media with people who claim they've solved some problem in physics. Once you learn to think in 4D space-time, most of the problems they claim to be "solving" go away. Space-Time it turns out, is stranger than a lot of people can imagine and that's just a starting point for working in Special and General Relativity.
Any metaphor will tear if stretched over too much reality.
