The big concern earthquake wise is the Juan de Fuca plate subduction under the North American plate just offshore a bit. This is a about a 300 year return period event. Maybe magnitude 9 IIRC? The tsunami wiped out coastal villages in Japan. That large Amida Buddha statue, often pictured, used to be inside a temple at an altitude of 100 meters. But it looks to be high enough at helicon’s to be no worries.

Now just 7 m/s wind (13 m/s in gusts), but getting worse. It's expected to be at its worst late Saturday afternoon.

My elevation is about 800 feet, the foothills in the backdrop of my photo are around 1800-2700 feet. So that may be OK, maybe not. The Cascadia subduction is the risk which can cause powerful earthquakes and tsunamis. Today it is 42 degrees now and partly cloudy.

The wind doesn't hit my yard very well, so I'm quite safe, but some of my neighbours may have a bit harder time. Yesterday evening, when I was walking the dog, I saw that the garbage cans of some neighbours had been thrown around by the wind. On my yard, even the tarp on my trailer is still intact.

One short (20 min) power outage this far. The wind seems to blow much harder now, but still not very hard.
I keep hearing some bangs every now and then, but they seem to come somewhere else in the neighbourhood.
I'm glad my place is quite sheltered from winds.

Storms can be so unpredictable Juha, but it seems like you are in a moderately sheltered location from the worst of it.

I know you will, but please keep your guard up until the storm passes you by.

Yes. Now the wind is 10 m/s and 18 m/s in gusts (weather station 8.5 km from here @2:30 PM). I expected a lot worse.
With a friend of mine (couple of decades back), we used to not go sailing unless it was at least 15 m/s.

Being slightly more stupid then than now, I went sailing on a friend's boat a few decades ago when there were small craft warnings up. That was quite the adrenaline rush. We weren't sure we were going to make it back to harbor.

But that was on a relatively small bay of Lake Michigan, so we weren't terribly far from shore even if we did capsize and his boat was small enough to right it easily (which we had to do once when his girlfriend didn't uncleat the jib sheet when we came about ).
