42 degrees and sunny right here in the Valley. I'm about 35 miles from the 10.5 k foot volcano Mount Baker here in Washington. Was 26 early in the morning when I got up. Some rain in the forecast. Just pulled the trigger on a new scope from Highpoint Scientific! So it's time for a brief celebration - a Celestron 102mm XLT f/9.8 refractor - which will be another grab-n-go!

Hope everyone in upstate NY is holding up okay.
Reports are citing accumulations of six feet in some places.

High wind warning ⚠️ over the past 16 hours. A bit scary but I rode out the storm. Power is out though.

Take care there Michael :o

High winds scare me more than any other weather system we get in the UK, due to the devastation they can cause.

You were lucky not to lose the firs Michael. They have a short root system and are usually the first to go in high winds.

Maybe you have some of the younger and stronger ones around your house :icon-smile:

As I was coming home from getting a haircut, I watched the temp on the car's instrument panel. It dropped ten degrees in ten minutes.
I was thinking of going out for a bit but the sky rating for my location is a "1" on meteoblue's 5 point scale. About as bad as it can be without cloud cover.

Yuk

Rain and clouds are supposed to blow off around dark and seeing if predicted to be better than average.

Rain, clouds, weather report said it was to drop to 27F last night, it went to 54F.

It's currently 60F at sunset, to drop to 27F, fool me once...

Rain now and it looks like we'll be socked in for a week. This makes sense because my new 72ED refractor arrived late last week. :sigh:

Congrats on the new glass! Of course, you are paying the price now especially for good optics... ;) For sure it will give a lot back once the curse lifts though!

Here, the weather has been cloudy and rainy since the end of October... Actually, it was relatively clear last night but the temp was around -3C and already had had a long day...

Temps around freezing but I got an un-forecast bit of clear-ish sky between full dark and the arrival of the predicted cloud deck.
I just put together a new grab-and-go rig so I gave it a test. Needs tweaking and a new finder but was able to spend a few minutes enjoying views of Mars and Jupiter before things got obscured.
