Cloudy, cloudy, cloudy, cloudy, cloudy, cloudy, cloudy. Venus must look like this from the surface. I haven't seen a star, or even the moon, for possibly a few weeks now. Today, the clouds covered the entire sky to beyond the horizon like a thick layer of frosting.

A raw, windy, cold, rainy and overcast day at 45 degrees. Somehow I am kinda happy that I won't be going out tonight.
It's that time of year when I know that it's not going to get any better until May.
Disappointing really because I made a few improvements to my rig that I'd like to test out.
All is not gloom and doom as, if the past years are anything to go by, I might see some warm clear nights arriving.
I remember a few perfect nights over Thanksgiving , Christmas and New Year in the past to look forward to.
Snow forecast this week.....

Over the next ten days we'll see highs upper-60s / lower-70s, low 40s overnight, mix of sun and clouds. Dry.

Looks like I'm in the schmutz until early Saturday morning. Supposed to be a possible ministorm of Leonids around 1200 UTC so hopefully it will clear a little earlier.

Tomorrow should be a slow day to finish shift, freezing rain forecast from now to 11:00 tomorrow and a possibility of some snow as well.
I think the helicopter will be inside its nice warm shelter until after this is done.

I don't like the cold or clouds, but I can survive them. I can still look ahead and hope for a better night. I dread the first big snow. That's when I cover my dome and usually don't open it again until March.

lol, pretty much. I have a big cover for the dome to keep melting snow from finding its way into cracks. Whenever it looks like we are going to have several inches of snow that will stay on the ground I usually cover it until the snow melts off. Some winters are worse than others.
