Sky cleared by 21:00 last night! And I was able to stay awake to observe from 22:00 to 23:30! Double win! It did drop down into the high 40s, I think, but I didn't mind since it was finally clear.

Mostly sunny and mid-70s now, but I see high feathery stuff moving in, so I'm not sure I'll be able to do two in a row.

83* and sunny with moderate breezes, so quite pleasant sitting outside. However. That high, wispy, feathery stuff that was there last night is still there. I could barely make out Arcturus at times, so no scope time for me.I

Forecast says it's supposed to clear out, but at 1245 it's not looking anything like clearing. Ten hours or so until night, so we'll see. At least I work from home tomorrow so I can sleep a bit later if I go out.

A bit of light rain this morning and it was forecast to be cloudy and wet for the next 2-3 days, but I'm looking at mainly blue skies right now. But will it hold until tonight? Guess I better check the animated sat images.

We have been grounded for the last two days from weather, I just checked the forecast for tomorrow.
30mm rain per hour for next 36 hours, hail and sustained winds of 33 m/s... something tells me I will not be seeing the inside of a helicopter tomorrow.

We had some heavy rain and wind, but it only lasted about 30 minutes.

At least for this week. We've quickly turned from perfect into demonic in merely a few hours a number of times over the past few months.

But for now it's fantastic.

Winter has well and truly set in down here. Temperature in the house this morning, without any heating running is 13 degrees. Further east, they are getting it a few degrees colder. When the sun is shining, the north facing windows bring in sunlight that warms the place to 25C but no sun at present.

At night, with temperatures getting down toward zero outside, I can burn between two and four 12inch long half logs and that keeps 100 sq metres of living areas at about 18 degrees measured 8 metres from the fire, and obviously much warmer near the fire. I also have a reverse cycle heat pump that can supply another 10kW of heat to the living areas. Useful to spread the heat when I have bigger groups staying. When it's just me, I just camp out on the sofa in front of the slow combustion fireplace.

Doesn't look like its getting any warmer next week. Young is 150m higher altitude than here so it's a touch colder than it will be here.

Waking up at 13°C is awkward.
Here, heat pumps are mostly for warming. Cooling is considered secondary (or reverse) function.
