The picture below is my setup at the end of the driveway of my mobile home (my "dark site" )

The plastic bag on the eyepiece tray holds and protects the controller for the focus motor. The plastic box with the red lid is used to protect the USB extension with the 4-port USB hub. A closeup view inside the plastic box is below.

The hub is powered and you can see the three USB cables plugged into the right side of the hub. These three cables include the signals from the ASI1600MM camera, the filter wheel, the guide camera, the focus motor, and, the CEM40 mount. The larger cable on the left is the ethernet cable that goes into my house.

The picture below shows the ethernet cable that goes from the plastic box up to and into the window along the side of my mobile home.

The final picture (below) shows the ethernet cable plugged into the converter box that converts all the signals back into USB signals that then connect into the USB port on the side of my laptop.

After the system is setup outside, the only task outside is to perform the Polar Alignment which I do by connecting a laptop (not the one shown above) to the mount's iPolar connection. The Polar Alignment takes about 3 min, then, back into the house for a comfortable evening of data collection.

The laptop controls everything with APT and the guiding is controlled with PHD2.

Overall I have enjoyed this setup.

Great setup Steve. The Ethernet converter has to be the way forward!

Good guess! It's across the highway.

There are a couple pull outs off of Jasper Rd. and Old Culp Valley Rd. that I frequent. This is dispersed camping, no water/toilet/anything. The roads are hard-packed sand just like at Culp Valley. But unlike Culp Valley there is little competition for the sites (except during a good Spring bloom), so this is just between you and me, right?! I haven't been shut out, but occasionally when I'm at a site I'll see a disappointed camper moving along.

If you see a telescope set up at one of these, it's probably me. Pull right in, I'll be happy to share.
