I finally found and received a working ethernet adapter for my Galaxy Tab-A. I had bought one before but when it arrived I found that it did not work - you really need to check the Galaxy chip sets that support it.
For those interested, my Galaxy Tab A model is SM-T580 and the adapter is USB2-OTGE100. Here's a table with all Android tablet compatible models for this adapter: https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com ... 8lJ0wL.pdf
I want to use it to plug into the Pi that I use for autoguiding. I used to do this with my laptop but I find laptops just too bulky to carry around at night, besides their batteries always run out. Besides, its keyboard started having problems in the cold so I could not even log in! The tablet works forever and is easy to carry around. I like ethernet because configuring the Pi as an access point is a major PITA, and it is slow too with the crappy dongle.
