Do you guys think that the extension pier for $80 is worth it?

if you're using a refractor and want some extra clearance to avoid pier strikes if the mounts not calibrated with slew limits correctly, also extra tracking time on the meridian ,, it seem reasonable. the eq6 sits pretty low so it can give you extra head height for viewing as well.

Thanks Yobbo! I think I'll add that :) It's not that expensive and sounds like it is worth it!

Freakin amazon... Said it would be here today. I woke up this morning and shipping is delayed a week. And guess what? The price went back up...

Luckily, for anyone looking at the EQ6-R Pro who hasn't purchased yet, B&H has a "secret" sale going on. The only way you can see the sale is to google "EQ6-R Pro mount," click on the B & H link with it priced at $1595 on google's search page, and it will come up at $1345 on BH's website. For some reason, when you find the mount through the search on B & H photo's website, it shows the mount at $1595 still... Unless you go through the google shopping page. Very strange.

Luckily, High Point Scientific price matched the B&H price, even though it was difficult to find the $1345 price. I cancelled my Amazon order. But GREAT news! I saved $130 in taxes!! I did not know high point doesn't charge taxes... That is a huge deal on large purchases! Unfortunately, I still have to wait a week to get the mount... but at least I got a better price. And, Amazon gave me a $25 gift card for the hassle.

I have learned my lesson--High Point Scientific is the way to go!
