Going to start shooting with a modified Canon T6i

I purchased a Canon T6i which I sent off to get the full spectrum modification. I already have a light pollution filter and a Ha filter and am looking forward to imaging some of the great hydrogen alpha regions coming up this winter! I let Kolari Vision do the mod for me and just got an email today saying they have finished it and in the process of shipping it back to me.

Ever since I learned how to do this whole astrophotography thing and these different filters let certain wavelengths through and block others, I've always wanted to have a modified camera so I could try my hand at shooting with filters. So I am really excited and looking forward to taking this next step in my journey into astrophotography and capturing beautiful images of the Horsehead Nebula and Orion and the Rosette.

Good for you!

Just got mine back recently from Lifepixel (Ha mod) and I've only shot with it once. Big difference with red light frames! It’s cool to catch red in a galaxies spiral arms.

Looks like it will be a big improvement though and I'm sure you will find the same.

As Steve333 pointed out in my last post (1st image), I might need at least uv/ir cut filter to further limit the deep reds though to improve red sharpness, but i need to shoot a few more targets to test.

Cool! Looking forward to your first light!

Jim

Thanks Jim!

I'm hoping big time this will allow me to capture more detail in emission nebula like the Horsehead. I have the 12mm Ha filter so I guess my images will be a little red but I also have a CCD CLS light pollution filter so I guess I can shoot

HaRGB. I Imagine it will take a little bit experimenting to get it straight though.

Good luck to you also!
