Yes, I do have a deep cycle marine battery as the source of my power for my power station. But I still use the separate stand alone battery for the dew heater.
Okay cool! thanks for sharing, JT.

That's what I was planning on doing--using 2 separate power supplies--so I can get like a cheaper power supply with a lower amperage and then something like my Celestron PowerTank (probably too low, it's only 7Ah).

I know the dew heaters take up most of the power... if that's the case, Wouldn't 2x 17Ah jump starters be good enough to power everything, for say, 6 - 8 hours? 1 for my dew heaters, and 1 for my mount, camera, and laptop?

What do you guys think of this device? https://www.highpointscientific.com/peg ... GkEALw_wcB

Im still planning on the DIY project, but this caught my eye. It's a little more expensive then the other dew controllers, but I could also connect my camera, mount it on my OTA, and control both with my laptop I believe... Less cables, better dew control, right?

JayTee wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2019 7:37 am I have a plan for a DIY dew heater if you are interested. Very inexpensive to build and no need for an advanced electronics degree. Let me know.

Cheers,
JT
I would definitely appreciate a look! Thanks, JayTee.
Me too. My other hobbies are ham radio and model trains, so building my own gear is half the fun. If I can do it here, too, all the better!
