Canon sx420 camera question

It'll be a while before I attempt any kind of astrophotography but I am curious about something. As I understand it, you remove the camera lens to attach the T-ring. However, apparently on the sx420, the lens can't be removed. Are there ways to attach this camera to a telescope?

Unfortunately, not easily.

Because you can't take off the camera lens it means you will have to use an eyepiece in the telescope and you will have to photograph the image presented by the eyepiece. This method is called eyepiece projection and it's not easy to get everything lined up so that you can actually take a picture. It would probably be easier to use your cell phone camera than your sx420. They have holders for cell phones that can be affixed to the telescope itself.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, my cell phone is cheap and takes lousy pictures. I only have it to make phone calls...lol...Maybe I'll just look into getting a better camera. Thanks again.

If you are interested in purchasing a used camera, lots of folks including myself have purchased used DSLR’s on eBay.

If you want to go that route, start a new thread asking what folks have purchased used and their experiences. I’m sure that you will get lots of good information.
