QHY 268 C gain and offset recommendations.

Post by Ricbrekne »

Hi.. I read a lot of different opinions on gain and offsett settings. Aside from the bit about making sure the histogram is slightly to the right of the left edge, I am wondereing what criteria you use to decide what gain to use for any given target ?

I can't realy help you, usually the offset and gains are programmed into the ascom driver by the manufacture in various settings ie unity gain, high gain ,fullwell, dynamic range ectt or they have a graph for it . i would asume there is a preset setting for the offset based on what camera gain option you choose .

For your camera qhy recommends that you start at gain setting zero. After you get comfortable there then you can make changes as your experience dictates. Here is the article I use to understand both gain and offset.
