Finally - Everything is here!

#1

Post by chris_g »

I got my full spectrum DSLR camera, a T2i Canon (550D) delivered last Friday all the way from western Canada. And today, I got my Optalong L-eNhance filter. Sad thing is both were ordered at the same time and the camera took two days to clear customs to boot. I've got a focuser on order that hopefully will be here by Friday or Saturday but the way the USPS works nowadays, that's doubtful. Any ways, I'm going to give the camera and filter a test this weekend as long as the skies cooperate! I might be able to get something tomorrow night, more likely Friday or Saturday. I'm looking forward to shooting more than just a couple of days a month and then only if weather permits.

Have fun Chris!

With just the L-eNhance, you should see boatloads of red on Ha emission nebulae targets. Whole new experience ahead!

Congratulations on the new camera and filter. You will really enjoy the enhanced sensitivity to the Ha emissions. Opens up a whole new set of targets.

Look forward to your new images.

Clear skies around 10:00 when we got home, unfortunately had chores that needed to get done after Thanksgiving, kitchen needed cleaning. Hopefully should have some clear skies again tomorrow🌚, going to rain in Saturday though

The ZWO focuser showed up yesterday, installation went relatively smoothly thanks to a post on Cloudy Nights that the guy posted images for my scope. I ran it tonight in manual mode with APT and focusing was a breeze. Got it to On Focus with the Bahtinov aide within a few moments. Looking forward to when I get the auto focusing with APT working so I can refocus throughout the imaging session as needed. Tonight's run will be the California Nebula and the Monkey Head nebula again, this time with the Optalong Pro filter to see the difference in how the two filters work. I want to get a 2" filter wheel and replace the L-Pro clip filter with the 2" version but that will have to wait until I can sell a couple of things in my inventory.

Clear Skies!
