rabbit hole casuality -- QHY163M

Post by BABOafrica »

After hemming and hawing for almost a full year, I bought a mono CMOS astrocamera -- used, of course.

It will take about 6 to 7 weeks before I actually hold it in my hands. It's a long way from the US to Kenya. I just hope it arrives in one piece.

I knew I was going to do this sooner or later. Actually, I already have a set of filters -- both the ZWO LRGB set and the ZWO 7nm NB set (which I bought used from someone here at TSS).

I am not sure how the filters get inserted into the optical train... The QHY163M nose-piece is for a 2" focuser, which is no problem. I'll be using the camera mainly with my WO 66mm APO.

I was not planning on buying a filter wheel. I wanted to use just one filter at a time. I'm lucky if I get 2 hours of imaging done any one night.

Anyway, I'll see how it works out.

Hey!!! That is great and very exciting!!!

Congratulations BABO on your new camera! Mono too!

I am really looking forward to your upcoming work!

Big difference from a dslr. At lease it was for me even going to an OSC astrocamera.

I’m very excited for you sir!
