put out 2 cams last night to try and record a set of Starlink satellites at 4am
at Midnight 1 cam got about 20 flashes just left of tree -
if its starlink satellites they are very dim - mag 4 to 5 -
Look Cool what ever it is

checked Heaven Above and did not find starlink in that part of sky -
will double check -

cropped the top part of video to make data file smaller -
added Color Dodge filter to darken sky some -
video is very compressed -

Real time is 1.5 hours -
TL is 24fpm -
this video is Lowest TL speed #3 in settings - no speed change in post

pointed cams away from moon to 340% north - was bright night

my guess is that moon light bounced off satellites just right to make show up
streaks origin moves left to right and brightest are at end by the tree
there is About 4 minutes ish Real time between flashes -

both cams recorded meteor flashes - balls and streaks
a Lot going on in sky
there is a flash at beginning of video -
have not had chance to look at it yet -

Also posted this video in Astro Video section on this site -
Im not sure where this is supposed to be posted ??

set up 2 cams in same area of sky last night -

one cam recorded basically Same thing as night before - same time/ location / duration

double checked Heavens Above for both nights - No starlink satellites this area -
there was total 7 starlink satellites slightly possible this area and were mag 6 to 7 -

So Im pretty sure this is not starlink satellites

So it must be something like cargo planes ??

( the origin point moving left to right - kind of make airplanes idea look Iffy ? )

closest city is Las Vegas 200 miles - I think light glow on left of screen is from vegas -
LA is 400 miles away -

so my guess is -

1 - bunch of air planes really far away -

2 - string of meteors earth is impacting at same time / direction the last 2 nights ?

3 - ? ? ?

4 - space porthole for alien visitors cruising Vegas -

after watching last nights video adding some filters
and reading more on meteor streams im 99% sure this is meteor stream -
Ive Never seen this before -
surprising how meteors Shoot out of one location like that
in 90 minute 96+ meteors were recorded -
being TL cam could have missed recording 2 to 3 X this number -

looked at some of the One minute video files that are 24fps -
meteors are recorded that TL does not get - saw one first file looked at
these files dont work well with Resolve editing - crash
will to try again to use these files - pain

going to look tonight to see if visible by eye -
also going to Gang 2 cams together on same spot in sky
did this once before and it worked ok

as of now looks like V3 cams easily sees meteors and satellites at mag 4 ish -
will try to post up a meteor screen shot - looks cool -

this is video from last night -
its top cropped 70% ish to reduce fils size
I can only watch back at Low resolution online so I cant See if video watchable -

i counted 96 meteors in this clip- there was about 30 more during shower I could see n video -

Tonight there is only one bunch of clouds in sky - right were cams are pointed -
still few hours till show time - maybe will clear off -

clouds moved out just in time for meteor stream to be visible again right on time @1130pm -
surprising stream is still happening - 103 meteors recorded in 90 minutes -
Origin point has moved more North each night -
recorded meteor count has stayed basically same over 4 nights so far

midnight I looked at sky by eye but could not see any meteors -
there was some thin clouds in that part of sky so made seeing harder -

tried some different filter combos and was able to remove everything
but 50 brightest stars and meteor streaks - Linear Light - Color Dodge

Likely cloudy tonight -

this is test of 1 minutes clips made by cam -
these files are very compressed
have tried these frame rates 5/10/15 /20/24/30 -
did not make much difference in Look -
file size changed -

Looks like the One minutes files are Very compressed - night sky 7.3mb Minute
not sure what frame rate really is or what size GOP is
but I guessing it is 5 frames -
only going to use these files when TL file has big meteor in it for a better look-
to get them to play ok used VLC and converted One file at a time -
takes a lot of time and hassle -
Look pretty bad - tons of noise take does not filter out well -

meteors amount has noticeable increases at 415am till sunrise -
last night started real cloudy but cleared at 10pm
had one cam pointed at meteor stream location but
must have messed up on settings - no timelapse recorded-
it was cam #9 the one that is kind of glitchy -

recorded NOSS satellites fly over at 4am - mag 4.6
easily visible on video -
the new Chinese space station flew over this morning but cams
turned off 5 minutes before it flew over - Opps

there is a train track 2 miles away and i notices that train cars
were visible in moon light -

now that moon is going away will see just what mag. satellite
cam can see at night

this will be first time using these cams to record these

Cam recorded starlink launch 24 fly over this morning -
this is minutes before sunrise so sky is brightening -
I just missed getting sats at their brightest -
turn cam to right a little bit would have got it better
sats range was 5.5 to 4.3 mag -

next few nights will be at mag 2.3 - 85% over head -

Im going to do a better job on aiming cam - could be real good -

doubt if this video is any good- first first try recording train with V3 cam
lots of sunrise noise - could not filter out

this Starlink #24 flyover satellites were 2.3 at brightest point -
sats flew over at 4.43am - I went outside to watch -Very cool to see -
this is 7th time I have seen train fly over by eye - WoW every time
a Meteor can also be seen towards end just under string -

this was 10 ish days after launch -
these are raising altitude and spreading out Much quicker than earlier launches -
in about a month these will be at 550km high and will mostly be mag 5/6 brightness -

Starlink is providing High speed internet to any location on earth -
75 to 160 Mbs - $100 a month -
right now I pay 2x that much and get maybe 1mbs if im in a good location and lucky

I'm very happy with my WYZE v3 camera. I just bought one for my parents home to monitor their driveway. They have a small light on above the door and the driveway is also lit by two streetlights from opposite sides so I can turn the IR off and still see everything in color at night.

Hi AstroBee
the low light performance of these cams is Really good - Glad you Like -
to be able to have Color picture in dark is Wow -
I have owned a few security cams and this is by far the best Ive used -

Last night put out cams and recorded Starlink 24 and 25 flyover
first batch was mag 5.2 - second batch was mag 6.3 thru 5.2

the meteor at end was not captured by Timelapse -
found it on first One minute clip I looked at -

I've been looking at the Wyze cams online and the ones I've seen all say they're motion triggered with the wireless one described as recording 12-second clips.

How do you get them to run continuously or in time-lapse mode? Thanks!

Hi Chuck -

Cam you want is Wyze Cam V3 - other wyze cam models dont have the Night mode -

cams can be setup to send you a text message if you have that function turned On -
if a Alarm boundaries area is set up ( doorway /walkway ) when someone enters that area
alarm mode sends message and likely records another short clip this is emailed to you - 12 seconds long ??
I dont use this function so not very familiar with those settings -

to setup Timelapse (TL) mode Contentious recording

to go to Settings page - click Sprocket top right of screen -

Click on - Advanced Settings - ( middle of page )

Top of page -Record to MicroSD card - Turn ON
just below that Click - Continuous -( record )

Below that - Click on Manage MicroSD card - Look make Sure SD card is Listed -

Now on screen that shows Live video -
Middle of page on Right side - Click on 3 Dots - More -

New page opens Click - Time Lapse - clock lower right -

New screen opens - this is where you Set the Time for Timelapse to Start and End -

U set start time - click OK
U set end time - click OK
(Date /time - slides Up and down ) it works well once U figured it out -

Intervial - (this screen is where Interval is set - 3 seconds is best for me - )

Bottom of screen Green Circle Click - SET ---

new page opens that shows Time setting start /stop -

Time Lapse time setup is now Complete - U are done -

-

Settings can be changed at Any time while turned on -
turn On / Off Timestamp - turn On night mode etc -

If power to cam goes off - Time setting are lost -

after U make setting wifi to cam can be shut off cam will
operate as earlier programed -

also make sure to Format SD card using cam
Format is on same page where the other SD card settings are -

I use 32 gig cards

you can watch live cam video - very cool -

Yesterday was big clouds- bubbling - dark ish -
recorded with cams - Looked OK -

the clouds here move Real Fast - timelapse on cam is fast also
so clouds are speeding by -

with moon in sky and somewhat cloudy here Im going to try
StarSpin with some Moon Lit clouds -

if it looks good I will post it - Jay

From your posts, I gather you cruise SoCal in an RV. I envy your ability to bop out into the desert. Your all-sky vids are really interesting - keep 'em coming!

LOL. I think I have everything but the white work van and the solar gear. I was thinking more of a Transit Connect, but generic white Chevy vans are stealthier.
