I scratched the RC10 Truss idea and took a different route. To get a 12" Dob for ISS which was my main goal and use it for Lunar/Planatary and Get an RC8 for the DSO and Galaxy Season.
So, I just picked up a nice Used AD12 and will use it mostly for my ISS project and also Throwing it on my CEM 70. Now I just ordered the 14" outter Diameter GSO rings that were $95. So now I am looking for a Losmandy plate for it.
Can anyone suggest an approximate proper length of the Losmandy Plate that I should get for it?
(For example, Go for the longest one within reason and also a minimum length for it) I know I got to put Dobs Shoulders somewhere between the rings. And possibly just take them off when I switch to EQ mode. I am just not sure of the balance of the AD12 yet and putting it up on the CEM 70. But those of you who had any experience/advice with doing such a thing with an 8" + Newt/Dob would help.
Thanks

Attach all of your equipment to the telescope and then find the location for the balance point, mark that location.
From there you can measure front to balance point and balance point to rear.
With those measurements you can determine how long a plate you can use without it hitting anything.

Thx Lady Fractor. Gonna try that tonight.
