ZWO ASI in stock??? visual guy goes for AP

#1

Post by helicon »

I finally am going to pull the trigger on a monochrome camera for planetary imaging. Finally!!! I've been debating which camera to get and reading reviews and stuff like that. So I go to the highpoint scientific site this morning and see that all of the models are out of stock. Does anybody know of an online retailer who has some in stock?

I checked around and seem to see the same thing on other sites.

Thanks in Advance,

signed,

New AP guy

Hi Michael,
Which one are you looking for? I bought my camera for my Agena Astro products. I just looked and they have some models available but many are out of stock also. Great customer service.

I like your enthusiasm Michael . But isn't it always the case, you get a goal in mind and your plans get scuppered.

I'm not into AP so I can't really help you there, but it seems like monochrome cameras are very popular, judging by the out-of-stock results you're getting.

Hopefully you'll get what you're after and I, of course, look forward to seeing the results of your endeavours.

Good luck with your search.

you can buy from zwo, the price is the same, but you'll have to pay for shipping .

i guess they sell at retail price to help competition with retailers around the world. my initial purchase of my first zwo cam was actualy cheaper direct ..

Yee-hah! Here we go! LOL.

I've seen some very nice mono shots of deep sky stuff. Looks like you might be able to try imaging some DSOs with that camera if you're ever so inclined.

Anyway, looking forward to reading about your upcoming adventures.

Hi Michael,

I ordered a ZWO Autofocuser on 21-Oct from Highpoint, and it shipped 3-Nov (yesterday). The wait is not too long. Even ZWO indicates they are out of stock on their website. I contacted Highpoint earlier this week because I saw activity on our credit card over the weekend and wanted to find out what was going on. Dave told me they have no idea how long things will be backordered, but the next day, I got an email that the focuser shipped.

I was prepared for a long wait based on everything I saw online, and the little that Dave knew when I talked to him earlier this week, but it wasn't too bad.

Hang in there Michael, you'll have your camera soon.

Hoping to use Registax, Photoshop (which I know how to use from my other hobby coin photography) so far. I'm currently looking at what filters/equipment I need outside of the cam.

Edit: There are a few websites offering info such as this one:

Jerry Lodriguss is good. His website is also full of useful information.

I use APT for capturing like a lot of people on here. But I have just started playing with NINA. It's a steeper learning curve but it does more.
