Ha vs Lenhance filters - recommendations?

#1

Post by Star Dad »

Last night I shot my first images using an OIII filter I bought years ago and never used. I was imaging the Veil Nebula (NGC6995) and I nearly fell off my chair when the the first image showed the thin filaments - without processing. I was thinking of getting the LEnhance filter, but I already have a good OIII filter. I was wondering if I should forgo that and get a dedicated Ha filter such as this: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... _48mm.html . While I've seen some Ha filters for $1,000 + - they are obviously outside of my ~$200 budget. Anyone have recommendations?

I guess the question is,' what camera is this Ha filter for?' I don't think I paid more that $75 for a 12nm filter a couple months back for wide angle work, can't remember where I got it, a sale item. And my 6nm filter was from Orion was not too expensive either. Both were 1.25 inch size, fits my Atik460ex and ASI1600MC.

Depends on size, bigger is not necessarily better,

It is for the ASI294MC-Pro... optimally a 2" filter, but I could get an adapter to go to 1.25"
