Getting The Color Back!

#1

Post by JayTee »

I captured my first sunset video using my ZWO ASI120MC attached to my Canon EF-S 100-300mm telephoto lens. The scale is perfect at 135mm and live on-screen there was plenty of color but on playback, it is only a B&W image. Is there something I missed in the settings for recording or do I need to do something additional to get color on the playback? All my different playback titles (Irfanview, VLC player, Windows Media Player, etc) show the same B&W image. The video was acquired using SharpCap 3.2.3068 in RAW 16 mode saving as an .AVI file.

Thanks,
JT

Hey JT,
Make sure you have all the drivers installed..... I use DirectShow as well to make it work with VLC.

Those recording settings look normal, i suspect the media player is the problem, might have to convert it, you can put it into pipp or autostakkert, these programs handle raw avi and should let you preview the data.

aswell what man1 said, make sure the native camera drivers are installed. if all else fails try running the camera in ascom driver mode.

Thanks you guys, man1 you nailed it. After updating the drivers the color is back! Thank you so much.

As with all AP image acquisition, I'm just waiting on the clouds to be less angry at me. Don't know when that will happen though.

Cheers,
JT
