Midnight Sky what are these ?

Post by Groovy2 »

Left of tree What do you think that is ??

my first thought was Starlink Satellites but I looked on Heavens Above
and No Starlink in that part of sky listed -
3hours of earlier TL video no action like this -
I have not seen something like this with this camera -

If it is starlink this V3 cam is recording maybe Magnitude 5 ish -
this recorded Williams AZ 340% North Apr 28/29

used WyZe V3 cam for this TimeLapse Video ( TL )

this was last night April 28/29 -
real time on video is 1.5 hours -
Cropped top 60% of frame to make data file smaller -

this is Slowest TL speed the V3 records in - 24Fpm

I have seen something similar a few times over the last months.
Not a aircraft as no extra lighting but quite high up.
I suspect it is likely a satellite that is rotating.
Whenever I do see this it is traveling about South to North/ NorthWest

i'm pointing towards satellites still ,lower in the horizon, and they only show in a portion of the sky and disapear due to the sunlight angle reflecting on them . some of the projectory is almost in the same spot ,you might be able to find some sat pathing in stallarium at that time and location ,unfortuantly alot of sats and asteroids you have to manualy add . i'm pretty sure starlink has to be added manualy..

this has repeated 4 nights in same location in sky -
at first I thought it was satellites especially after seeing 4 nights in a row -
one night I counted 106 streaks in 1.5 hour TL - one night 96 -

I can look at 1 minutes video files cam records -
quality is real bad but many more streaks visible on these videos -
have seen some last 4 to 6 seconds - -some 10 ish seconds
most 3 ish seconds some just flash -
some are much brighter with bright flash

the Origin point moving to north has me surprised -

these are visible same time each night 1.45 hour total -
11.45pm to 1.30am - number of streaks increase /drops off quickly - minutes

at the moment my guess is this meteor stream -
maybe part of Lyrid ?

I have not seen meteor stream before - things ive read sound pretty close -
these look alot like Roman Candle firework is best I can discribe
there is some streaks the come from random area around main origin point

tried to see by eye one night did not see any - cam was able to record them -

last 2 nights unable to video this area - will try tonight -

If these are still visible over the next few nights ???

streaks visible again last night -
origin point has moved more north -
seems to be Less activity now -

I still thinking this is meteor stream but I have little knowledge on this subject -

this was cool to record - Wyze V3 cam works amazing well in dark -
have recorded satellites flying over in Mag 4 range -
maybe capable of dimmer -
meteors show up easily -

I slowed down the playback speed and because they're very similar in brightness and duration, and moving pretty much in parallel, I'm thinking this is a Starlink stream that's dispersing or has dispersed. You'll notice that some of the SLs flare on your second video also, so apparently that's not unusual.

Your Roman candle description of meteor shower tracks is pretty accurate. The apparent point of origin on the sky is called the radiant.

I'm also thinking maybe I should order a Wyse from AMZ and stick it out on my deck to see what it can see. But of course it would then become a cloud cam.
