Video converting and stacking?

#1

Post by bigfish »

Hello,

I'm wondering if I can convert video to separate frames then stack them in something like Deep Sky Stacker?
My phone takes 4K UHD mp4 Video. It would be cool if I could play around with some stacking software.
Does anyone know of software capable of doing this and maintaining high-quality pictures?
I'm new to taking pictures of planets but not a total noob to video and photography.
Thanks!
Bill

Autostakkert! will sort your video frames by quality and stack the number of your choosing.

Here is a tutorial I put together for lunar imaging that may offer some insight: https://www.theskysearchers.com/viewtop ... =22&t=3893

Awesome! Thanks!
It looks like Gimp also splits video into TIFFs. Have you ever used it for that?

Take a look at this post then scroll down to the section entitled Image Stacking For Planetary/Lunar Images. This should give you a leg up on what to study and investigate next.
