Sequator : new kid on the block....

#1

Post by Piet Le Roux »

I have just started with AP and have tried to do some stacking with RegiStax but found it a bit overwhelming then I came across Sequator and that seems to be simple enough for me. I used it to stack 5 RAW's, taken with my Fuji XT100 , of the moon. No processing was done to the RAW's .

Very nice, Piet.

I've never got along with stacking in Registax. Every now and then I'll have another go but always turn it off in frustration.

Looks like it did an amazing job. That is an exceptionally crisp image of the moon. Well done, and, thanks for sharing the information.

I use sequator as in deepskystacker I always end up with an image so dark that even in photoshop I can hardly get any stars to show.

I've used Sequator, which i find great for milkyway images, and DSS but but have the same "dark image issue" as mac above. I have recently moved to Astro Pixel processor which I find is very easy to use, does a great job of registering and stacking and takes you through gradient & LP removal and up to first stretches. Give the free trail a shot.

Sharpstar 61EDPH II (with dedicated 0.8 reducer) with wiliam Optics 32mm uniguide
Camera: ASI2600MC pro. QHY 163M with ZWO 7nm NB filters, Canon EOS700D astro mod
Secondary mount: Skywatcher StarAdventurer

Most folks don't use Registacks anymore for stacking planetary / lunar images. The better software title to use for stacking is AutoStakkert it is so much better. And the great part is it's also free.

Cheers,
