List of AP software applications

#1

Post by Kanadalainen »

Hello all,

I'm getting my feet wet in astro photography and was curious as to the extent of applications out there. I have been trying some freeware and have Photoshop and Lightroom available on computers that I use for work.

The list above is a bit outdated, but is a nice synopsis. Let me know if you are using something that's not on the list.

Kind regards,
Ian

Fracs: Stellarvue 70T f6; SW 120mm Esprit f7; "Mark Mk. II" - 60 mm Tasco f6; C80 frac f 11.4
SCT: C8 Edge f10 or f7 with reducer
Dob: 14.5" homebuilt strut dob (f4.5 ZOC mirror), Nexus II, Moonlite focuser
Mounts - Ioptron Skyguider pro, Astro Physics GTO900
Cameras and lenses - ZWO 2600 mc, 290 mm mini, Canon 60D modded with Rokinon 10mm 2.8; Rokinon 135mm f2

Hi Ian,

I don't see one of the best image acquisition software, Astrophotography Tool listed.

It is really an amazing package with many tools and super duper support. I know that there are many users here on the forum.

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks Jim, I see that you use it too.

Another big one missing: Astro Pixel Processor.

They don't mention the ASCOM platform, which may be needed to get devices to talk to the PC and to the various programs. I have it installed so all the programs I use know where the scope is pointed. I use Cartes du Ciel for the same function Stellarium provides.

I'll also add that I don't see Skysafari variants up on the list.

I use Skysafari 6 - its highly useful. Good for push to on my dob (with Nexus II) as well.

There is a list around here on the forum somewhere. JayTee should know where it is. I'm too over-wrought and brain-fried to find it.

EDIT: Found it. https://www.theskysearchers.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=523
