I've been using APT to plate solve, and was wondering about framing over multiple nights... Say I want my target to be a little over to the left... For example, if I want the flame nebula to be framed more on the left side in the image and the horse head more toward the center, and I want to shoot over multiple nights. What would be the easiest/best way to get the right framing? Is there a way to get the plate solving program to remember how exactly I framed the Images in between nights, or after a meridian flip?
Thanks!

I'm looking forward to seeing what replies you get to this James. The question looks like it sits in a similar position to my learning curve!
What planetarium software do you use? Would it be possible to ensure accurate telescope pointing after plate solving by adding a few minutes of arc to the right ascension figure and slewing the same amount on both nights?
Sequence Generator Pro makes this easy with its framing wizard.
But once you have a plate solve that meets your satisfaction make note of the coordinates and it will remain the same over centuries! The objects do not move their physical position over time (relatively speaking). Only the rise and set times change.

sgp user here, some of my images are sequenced from a few years ago and i'm still using the same plate solve for them,my understanding is that sgp should be able to plate solve a image in case you lose your sequence for it as well.plate solving accurately measures the stars with your telescope and camera information the user has inputted .
I'm not familiar with apt but sequence generator pro basic setup every night includes practically loading up user and gear profile, connect your hardware, select the saved sequence of your target which includes the framing and integration settings ie how many frames, filters ectt and then just hit go!. it will plate solve the sky, slew, further adjustment , run auto focus and begin integration and guiding.

Thanks for the replies guys! I will have to see if APT lets me save coordinates or something. If not, I know I can at least write them down and use them again (don't know why I didn't think of that ) Lol thanks again y'all! That will be very useful!

Go on to the APT website and contact Ivo, he's the author of the software, and ask him your question. He responds fairly quickly. I have done this in the past when I had a scripting question and I got an answer the next day.
Cheers,
JT

There is a facility for saving custom coordinates on the Custom tab in the Object Browser on the Gear tab.

Oh sweet I didn't know that is what that was for! I need to take a deep dive into this program more and see what else it can do. Thanks for pointing that out! I appreciate it y'all
