Learning about PixInsight processing
Working with PixInsight to learn how to get good results from my subs. Trying a new method where I separate the stars from the image and process the “nebula” without the stars. Later I reinsert the star to get the final image. Would really like some feedback both on process and result.

I like it!
I have been experimenting with the same thing, using Starnet to do the star removal. I really like the results I am getting. I am able to do more sharpening of the nebula without making a mess of the stars, and, similarly, I am able to sharpen the stars without messing up the background. Plus it is easier to control the brightness and saturation separately.

Yes I used the Starnet script, it leaves a little "noise" but not to much.

I am always trying to improve my processing with respect to removing stars. I have not had much luck with PixInsight. Seems like I can't remove all the stars. Anyone care to post their PI settings for MT and MLT (the processes used)? And, I've tried StarNet++, and although it seems to really extract out the stars I find it destroys the detail in the nebulosity of the resultant image.
