Elephant Trunk Nebula and M16 Exposure Gain Questions

#1

Post by TheButcher »

Hey all

I am curious to know a decent (estimated exposures for these two objects with gain) I want to know if I am taking too long of single exposure times ect along with the right gain amountwith my sky conditions..and how much integrated time to bring out detail.

Light Polution - Red Zone Bortle 8 (25 Min North of Philadelphia) TNorth side is much better then South side for light polution since I am looking over Philly practically
Equipment:

Skywatcher Equinox ED80 F6.25
ZWO 294mc-Pro
Astronomik CLS-CCD 2"
Hotech FF
Autoguide: Orion Mini Deluxe with
Guide Camera: ZWO 385mc using PHD2
Sharpcap Pro 3.2

So far I have been working on The elephant Nebula and Eagle and here are my numbers below so far. As far as guiding I could go higher in expsoures or should I be lowering single exposure time? With light pollution should longer exposures be better or shorter and more frames?

Elephant Trunk Neb Gain at 140 temp-16c

Eagle M16 - gain 140 temp - 16c

Thanks all :)
