NGC 7635, Bubble Nebula - Anyone wanna play?

Here is a stack I captured last night: https://www.dropbox.com/s/29ph0tka4lemq ... .fits?dl=0

65x180s lights, 15 each darks, flats, dark flats, and bias.

If you are bored, clouded out, or want some processing practice, have at it. :)

Hi Bryan - Since my laptop is still being repaired (again and again and now a third time) it was a pleasure to play with your nice data. Below is my attempt. Seems to have a slight "pinkish" look to me, but, I didn't pursue it any further.

Hope you like it.

Would need a final color balance and tuning, but here's a real quick 4 step post processing in GIMP.

That’s a great image Bryan!

I’m trying to shoot M20 right now. If it doesn’t clip my neighbors roof, I’m sure it will go through a tall bush he has. Then it will be in the trees! This AP is a hoot!

Thanks,
Jim

Thanks, Jim! Good luck on M20! It is a fun target both visually and imaging. I hope you get some great data, my friend! :)

I like the idea of uploading data for people to practice on.
Too bad it's gone.... I'd like to play around with it.....

The Bubble always has a "Bubblegum pink" tint to it. :)
I happened to grab 6x10 min Ha images of this just now...
After getting the SII to finish the Elephant Trunk.
And since I've been going at it since 05:00... I'm off to bed.
Perhaps I can add my Ha data set to your offering in the morning.
Beautiful job guys, on all the processing attempts!

Hey all,
I apologize for getting back to the party late. Life and all that.... :D
Here's a dropbox link to 8, 10 min Ha frames on the Bubble.
Calibrated and registered. Ready for stacking and processing
I also have 10 OIII frames and will put them up as well, but not at the moment. Sucking up photons...

I experimented a bit. First I loaded the image in DSS and edited and saved three images separately for three different areas: the center (the bubble and nebulosity), the upper right (star field with a green gradient) and the lower left (regular star field). In Gimp I created masks for all three areas after applying a Gaussian blur to make the transitions less noticeable, and applied the masks to their related target area. Then I edited each individual area and added them all up. The outlines of the masks were visibly darker, I selected those areas and lightened them up. Reduced the size in MS paint. I like that the gradient was removed and that the star colors are enhanced. This was a good exercise and I think I achieved my goals. The colors are a bit overcooked. Thanks Bryan for making this available!
