mosaic without camera rotation

#1

Post by 1jimalexander »

My last attempt at a mosaic was disastrous.
I use spg mosaic to frame the mosaic. No camera rotation.
I rotate the image in the mosaic wizard to be horizontal.
I did a meridian flip between the 2 panels.
I rotated the stacked images in Pixensight to have a similar orientation.
Even after oriented only a corner of each image matched.

I use ICE to create the mosaic.
This time I plan on taking all images on the same side of the meridian.
I'm also planning to move back and forth between panels as I progress through the filters.

Comments on my new plan?
Additionally, is there any connection between the angle shown in the mosaic wizard and the sgp camera setting for "angle"?
If I rotate the flattener/filter wheel/camera in unison my calibration frames are still going to be void do to the aperture contribution to the calibration. Correct?
Is a new set of calibrations required for every camera rotation?
