File explorer locked files exported by Gimp

#1

Post by SkyHiker »

I spent a few hours trying to figure out why I could not delete TIFF files exported by Gimp. I found some leads on the internet of people experiencing the same. Apparently this can happen if the files have a transparency layer. I threw the whole kitchen sink (rebooting, command line, uninstalling Gimp) at deleting those files but nothing worked. Eventually I followed up on a report that you have to kill the file explorer from the task manager then delete the files using a commands window. It worked, thankfully. Just so you know, for the Gimp users among us.

Windows file explorer has the bug. Searching the internet, it can also lock up with media file access right problems, display icons and other things. Gimp is the free equivalent of PS so I won't complain.
