Image is “Gray” after stacking in DSS

#1

Post by Kerry C. »

I have taken my first images with my new set-up using my ASI294MC Pro. They were taken using the RAW setting in APT (Astro Photography Tool) then saved in my computer as “fits” files. Then when I stack them in DSS (Deep Sky Stacker) the final stacked image is completely gray and also gray in the histogram image view.
After loading them individually in DSS I can see the preview of each image when selected. Yet as I say there is no image to view after stacking. After saving there is no image that StarTools recognizes to process.
I never had this problem when using my DSLR for imaging and stacking.
I have Googled this question but so far have not found any helpful information.
What am I doing wrong?
Please help...
Confused,
Kerry

Hi Kerry,

Can you share exposure/gain/calibration file info? Did you preview the images in APT (or another app) while imaging? What did the preview stretched images look like? Maybe upload a single light frame to a service like Google Drive (r your usual) and post a link.

Someone might be able to help.

Thanks
Jim

Have you selected the correct Bayer matrix for your camera?

When you say you have no image after stacking, are you saying that there is no Autosave.tif file? Or that the file exists, but you can't see the contents, if any?

Not all that obvious is the need to debayer BEFORE stacking.
