Finally My OB Build begins

#1

Post by Gulf Coast Guy »

I retired back in Sept., We movedinto the new house in March, Got the pad poured and yhe pier up in May. I'll have to wait till Aug (21st)to get the 8'x8'shed built. The waiting is pure torture but it'll pay off.

2369 2368

Bortle 5 skys, unobstructed views North and South, House to the East. Shed on West. Pad dims 9'x17' Planning alluminized attic radiant film on the pad to reduce the heat loading. I've already upgraded to a C-11 on a CGX

Very nice start. Did you isolate the pour for the pier concrete from the rest of the pad?

No, that would have added $$ for the extra forming I didn't have to spare. At the Pier it's about 7 inches thick after build up due to the grade in the yard. I'm hoping that will dampen vibrations My big concern is heat gain and rentetion/radiation. I'm going to lay down aluminized film on the surface under astro turf in an effort to offset that, and to add a little cushion.

Took a while but maybe now I can start enjoying my retirement.
The shed was finished just a couple of weeks ago, bu I had to wait for an electrician for power. 240VAC 50A two ( 120Vac 20 circuits (one inside, one outside). The table can roll out to the pier and is height adjustable.

Very nice.

Is your shed free-rolling? I don't see tracks / wheel guides in the pic.

Shed is stationary ... BUT there is still room on the pad for an 8' dome way down the road. It has become clear that a climate controled room is a must here on the Gulf Coast. When you combine the heat and the humidity summer nights down here can get brutal.

I'm so confused now. If the pier is bolted down. But the shed doesn't roll on or off...how do you cover the scope?
