Open for Spring

#1

Post by jrkirkham »

This isn't exactly an observing report, but perhaps similar. The weather in Illinois finally warmed and I opened the observatory POD for spring. I haven't had a good observing night since December. There were several little upgrades. My old work table was too large and protruded several inches into my observation space. I replaced it with a small table that is just big enough to hold my laptop and a lower shelf just large enough to hold my log and charts. The place was cluttered with old carboard boxes that held all my stuff. I found a tool chest on clearance. If you take off the wheels and handle it fits just perfectly in a bay, with enough room on top to hold my refractor. Drawer #1 is for glass. Drawer #2 is for cords cables and electronics. Drawer #3 is for misc. astronomy supplies. Drawer #4 is a tool box and holds my nuts and bolts and stuff. Last, but not least, I added a small sticker to scare intruders away.
