Trolley accessory.

#1

Post by Greenman »

So I have been tweaking my setup, and trying to ease my setting up/wire control.

I invested in an inexpensive trolley, metal and fold flat. To house the power supplies and weather proofed power distribution. I have been using this for a while, but adding 3 independent power supplies for the mount, camera and ASIAIR meant a spaghetti reduction was needed. I also found my earlier attempts to do this caused some issues with drag on the RA in particular.

Did some other tweaks, shifting the vixen bar to make balancing easier, as the added items had made the scope eyepiece end heavy.

Sweet result, now balances well, full balance to the extremities of RA and DEC and no wiring catch ups. Part of the reason for doing this was also the promise of clear skies tomorrow night - the only one predicted this week. Mind you as this is England; I’m not holding my breath on the promise of clarity.

Anyway, it looks as if the cheapest item on my setup, said trolley, will in fact add a lot.
Cheers,

Tony.

Tony, that is awesome! As a do-it-yourselfer as well, I can really appreciate that. Ingenious idea for sure!

And not being an AP type really, do you have to go out with all that every time you image? If so, I admire the effort, and can see why you made that! :D

All the best,
Mark

Looks like a very helpful addition to your system! :)

I have been thinking of doing something for reference materials and such, but have not decided on anything in particular. Something like what you are doing might just fill the need. Thank you for sharing!

That looks like a good idea Tony.

And that's a very eclectic book collection you have there!

Yep, Mark that would be it exactly, this little lot goes up my back garden (and a flight of steps) to the observation spot each night I image, and back down at nights end. I feel like the grand old Duke of York at times :D
Cheers,

Tony.

Heh, indeed part of a much larger set - books (prior to Kindle) were a hobby of mine. I have a wandering mind
Cheers,

Tony.
