The delight of my first Boot failure: package 0080

I suppose it had to happen, it’s just the timing that got to me.

There I was peacefully waiting for it to get dark enough for me to start imaging M42, with my new Baader Semi APO filter and comparing it to unfiltered. I filled my time by observing the crescent moon and taking a few shots, finally Orion appears to the south - so I switched on my scope off to skyalign, and initialising packages - then error...

In my noobie innocence, it thought the handset must have a poor connection, and I found and unplugged it from high up in the SE 6’s cradle - major error, I the spent the next 30 minutes in my outbuilding try to plug the handset cable back in. Finally after a brief session of hand gymnastics I managed to get it back in, and of course - exactly the same. At this point I picked up the IPad that had been laying beside me all the time, and searched the error code.

The phrase D’oh, resounded in my mind. Nice undocumented feature of the Handset ;).

This morning I downloaded the newest CFM, and thankfully having the right cables already, my handset is updated and working again (oh, after downloading and installing Java, and the wrong version of CFM to start with).

You can find the newest version here http://software.celestron.com/updates/CFM/CFM.

Now, all is well in my world.

Moral of this tale? Ask questions first, shoot second. :Astronomer1:
Cheers,

Tony.

While I feel your pain I have to admit I laughed reading your post GM. Glad you have a sense of humor about these things and that you got it resolved. I would have cussed like a sailor through the whole thing.

Your moral is good for morale.

Ah, that is the affect of not posting until I calmed down, and looking back - reflected on my foolishness. At the time I was more, putting it gently, aggravated.

Glad you enjoyed the read.
Cheers,

Tony.
