NGC 974

NGC 974 (UGC 2049, PGC 9802 and others), the large galaxy just left of center, is an intermediate spiral located approximately 198 million light-years away in Triangulum.

NGC 969 (UGC 2039, PGC 9781 and others), the large galaxy to the right of NGC 974, is located at the same distance.

There are numerous other NGC galaxies among fainter ones. See the annotated image.

Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 8x300s – 40 minutes each – binned 2x2

360 minutes total exposure – 6 hours

Imaged January 12th, 2021 and January 20th and 21st, 2022 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at f/8 2432mm.
