Well, we have had to repair space telescopes before their first used before!

Well, we have had to repair space telescopes before their first used before!

Interestingly (sadly), none of the current Manned Capsules reference any Airlock capability.

And the JWST was designed WITHOUT any In-Flight Serviceable Components (saved budget since the STS program was already decommissioned).

Although, it would almost quintuple our current Manned Flight Distance-from-Earth record just to do a Fly-By.
("Mission Control: Tell Northrop Grumman that the Doohickey failed to separate from the Thingus... Now, lets go home. Turn-and-burn!!")

I hope all goes off well. The fact that astronauts can't get to L2 to service the scope is a bit scary (if something goes wrong.)
