Arp 8 (
NGC 497, UGC 915, PGC 4992 and others) is a spiral with odd arms. Part of Arp’s, “Spiral Galaxies – Split Arms” class, the galaxy is located approximately 327 million light-years away in Cetus. There are a lot of other galaxies in this field along with a lot of
IFN dust.
Luminance – 24x600s – 240 minutes – binned 1x1
RGB – 10x300s – 50 minutes each – binned 2x2
390 minutes total exposure – 6 hours 30 minutes
Imaged September 7th through the 12th, 2021 from Dark Sky New Mexico at Rancho Hidalgo (Animas, New Mexico) with a SBIG STF-8300M on an Astro-Tech AT12RCT at
f/8 2432mm.
