Caldwell 65 the Sculptor Galaxy

#1

Post by Ben Cartwright SASS »

Caldwell 65 the Sculptor Galaxy. The Sculptor Galaxy (also known as the Silver Coin, Silver Dollar Galaxy, NGC 253, or Caldwell 65) is an intermediate spiral galaxy in the constellation Sculptor. The Sculptor Galaxy is a starburst galaxy, which means that it is currently undergoing a period of intense star formation. It is about 10 million light years away, one of the closest galaxies in the Milky Way group.
I took this using the Slooh 17" Planewave in Chile with a FLI FL16803 camera.
I took 243 Lum images (B&W images) of 50 seconds each for a total of 202 minutes (about 3 1/2 hours). Processed in Pixinsight, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
