I've always wanted to process an image of the Crab Nebula, but at 660mm with my NP127is it's just too small in the FOV......so next best thing......Telescope Live's PlaneWave CDK24! This is a collection of 14 images each (SHO) @300s, processed with Pixinsight.
The Crab Nebula, M 1, is probably one of the most known astronomical objects. it is a supernova remnant, whose parent star went supernova in 1054AD. It lies in the constellation Taurus at a distance, from Earth, of 6,523 light-years with a diameter of 11 light-years. At the center of the nebula is the famous Crab Pulsar, a neutron star about 18 miles in diameter that spins 30.2 times/second emitting pulses of gamma rays to radio waves, thus accounting for the myriad of colors contained in the nebula.
I have no idea if these colors are anywhere near what they should look like in an SHO representation of this object.....I guess I just too artistic liberty with it!
Anyway, hope ya like it!
