Re: AP Processing Challenge No. 8
Outstanding work, Greg! I love that color, and you really pulled out the contrast very well. Nice Job!
Actually, there's not much more one can do with those proms as shot. They weren't large enough for the small pixel size of the 120 to capture much detail. I think the only way to overcome that would be to put a barlow or Powermate in the light-train and process several shots as a mosaic. I've done that in the past with the 120 when proms seemed worth the effort... I'll attach an example below.
Thank you for joining everyone in this challenge. It gave us all a chance to discuss various methods and techniques. That mosaic was shot with a Powermate and ASI120MM stuck on the back of a Lunt 60.

My CS2 doesn't seem to be able to work with two images at the same time either. I'll give it another go in Gimp.
Ok, here's my attempt using
(app.php/article/basic-solar-processing)
With both tif files open I copied the surface section from the surface image after; select visible, feather, grow and invert selection. Then pasted into a new layer over the proms file image. I centered it with the move tool but I couldn't find a way to increase the size of the surface image with respect to the proms so you can still see the join!
Stretched the surface image to align the shade of the two. Then converted to
Solar-Heads are a tricky bunch.

Yes, we are. That's a good effort, Graeme.
Here's a quick look at how to change the size of an image (- 0.5% in this case). While I use
I appreciate that you gave it a go... We'll make a solar-head out of you in no time.

That's it for No 8!
Hat's off to the solar imagers, the data processing is not as easy as it looks!
Thanks for the data John.

Thank You, Graeme for making this possible.
We all had fun, and I certainly appreciate everyone who "had a go" with the image. When everyone learns something... It's a good thing.
