Re: GoTo Upgrade and More!

Holding the location but having the incorrect time is typical of all of these. It should also hold any slew limits and such you input. It would need a internal battery to run a real time clock to retain the correct time. Enjoy the new kit, I had this set up on a EQ-4 years ago when they were first a...

My condolences Bryan, I am starting to think that the deformation of the brain cells may be caused by the amount of emails that you have to answer in a day.

Re: As if I need a new telescope...

For people in the USA they can be purchased through Teleskop-Service and at a slightly lower price for some reason:

Re: As if I need a new telescope...

The reason I was looking around the Bresser site is I still have store credit and was thinking about trying the 102mm f/13.2 again, now that they seem to have gotten it figured out now. Either replace the 102mm or go with a Maksutov.... it will be a while before I decide either way. https://www.bres...

Re: Celestron Nexstar 114MM with go to

Do you have a manual for the telescope? If not here is the one for yours I believe. If it is, there is no version so cannot be upgraded but the accessories page lists the specific cable you will need to operate the mount from a windows computer. It also mentions a program that works with it. NexStar...

Have you tried Telescope Warehouse?
Send them an email, they are usually good for having/ knowing where to purchase Meade parts.

Re: Celestron Nexstar 114MM with go to

Power on the mount, go into menu and I believe Version is under Utilities (look around you will find it :) )
Once you know what version the programming is then you can et it hooked up properly.

The other side benefits are the joys and challenges of making something that works, which in turn gives you appreciation for why high precision gear is expensive and worthwhile :)
Very well put and is applicable to both visual and photography.

What version is the programming in the hand controller?
Depending on that will tell if it can be controlled or not.

Re: I've had it with..

CN was the first astro forum I signed up for when I got seriously into the hobby. I've been there the longest. I found AF not too long afterward. Total post count: CN - 36 AF - 39,133 TSS - 2,712 as of this post Lot's of astro heavy-hitters on CN and some really nice and helpful folks. And a good m...

Strangely enough, today is the first time I am not being logged out every couple of minutes.
Gordon just tweaked the cookies that Chrome uses so a bit more tweaking may be needed.

Interesting that it needs to be kept so warm, I thought they normally cooled them so the waste heat did not generate extra noise while imaging.

Re: I've had it with..

I tend to avoid CN now unless I am looking for some very specific information, there are only 3 people there that I actually ask questions of.
SGL depending on the specific forums can be just as bad at times if you are not a member of the "in group" and posts will be ignored.

Re: Looking for new Eyepiece advice

Hello Ron, Plossl eyepieces will work well with your telescope and the GSO Plossl are a very good place to look as they are quite good quality for the price. The next step up is more than double the price. An erecting eyepiece that get included with these is a poor eyepiece and is really only good f...
