"nFA Observing Report September 24th and 25th, 2022"

Eyepiece comparisons can be quite helpful in narrowing down one's kit and finding glass that works well in different scopes. In this case, nFA was visiting his grandson and tried out numerous oculars in both an ST80 and AWB 130mm scopes. One of the subjects they viewed was the Wild Duck Cluster in Scutum (M11). An interesting finding was the good perfomance of Kellners in both ST80 and the AWB, both relatively short focal length telescopes. Common wisdom is that their simple element design does not perform well as lower f ratios and that one needs an Erfle or similar design for successful viewing without many aberrations. Congratulations on winning the VROD for the useful report nFA!
