9-16-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

"Visual Report for September 12/13"

One of the things that can be very helpful for a successful evening (or morning) session is the ability or inclination to persevere until the conditions warrant it. In this case jrkirkham (Rob) was prepared for a nice evening session when a cold front went through and seemed to put a kabosh on the plans. However, waiting until 3 am the conditions improved and he was able to take advantage of his observatory mounted C11 and catch a variety of binary systems, a couple of whose types he had read about such as the kind where the companion, usually a white dwarf, is close enough that material is pulled off between the two stars.

Anyway, using powers from 88x to 565x (!) on Rigel he made quite a go of things. After some time viewing and imaging the early morning planetary parade he headed home at around 7 am. Quite a nice night at the obsy and well worth today's VROD award Rob !
