VROD

7-5-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

by helicon

"Observing Report for July 2 (you guessed it: more doubles)"

When confronted with uncooperative conditions having an observatory can make even sour sessions pleasant and productive. In this case jrkirkham (Rob) had a glowering moon, cloudiness and humidity, plus dew and transparency of 1 on a scale of 1 to 7.

Nevertheless, he persevered and went after several double stars, splitting them successfully. Included in that grouping were Beta Cephei, 61 Cygni, Struve 2816, Epsilon Pegasi, and Xi Cephei.

Of special note in his report is the story of 61 Cygni which actually is a famous star for various reasons. Congratulations on the report and on winning the VROD for today Rob!
