"Canes Venatici Galaxies"

When one is in the environs of M51 and assorted faint fuzzies it's a good idea to look for Cor Caroli (the heart of Charles) the brightest star in Canes Venatici. Just a couple of degrees from this star there is a small asterism of four stars with a galaxy tucked into their midst, medium bright as galaxies go, This one happens to be Messier 63. There are three other bright Messier galaxies in the constellation, but there also are numerous NGC galaxies therein, which bigzmey (Andrey) ferreted out on the evening of July 1st. With dark skies, the observing in Canes Venatici is magnificent. Follow along with Andrey on his quest to observe them with his Edge 9.25". Congratulations Andrey on winning the VROD for the day!
