"Pegasus, NGC 1, and the Planets"

In a very interesting report we have a description of NGC 1, a galaxy which most likely few of us have observed before. One wonders how Herschel decided it was a starting point, a relatively nondescript smudge of light at 12.9 magnitude. But bigzmey (Andrey) caught it from the darker-than-normal skies of the Anza desert, due to the encroaching marine layer which obscured the lights of San Diego and Los Angeles to the north. Follow along as he explores the myriad galaxies in Pegasus, a few OC's, an impressive globular (M15), and finally a tour of the major planets Saturn and Jupiter, where the former revealed several of its moons while the latter feautured a transit of Io across its face. Getting a few hours of sleep he headed home from his campsite in the morning. Congratulations Andrey on winning the VROD for the day!
