5-31-2021 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

"One double star, two refractors."

Putting one's equipment to the test by examining an object in two differerent telescopes can be a useful exercise to determine which optical system performs better with which eyepiece. Team member John Baars put his 150mm Achro and 120mm APO to the test on the close double star SAO 84572 over the course of two nights. Sketching the results of his observations clearly shows the 120mm f/7.5 APO offered a sharper split than the 150mm f/5 Achro. John also observed planetary nebulae, globular clusters incluing NGC 6229 in Hercules and the normal summer showpieces. Congratulations John on winning the TSS Visual Report of the Day.
