5-26-2023 TSS Visual Report of the Day.

by helicon

"I Got Stood Up!"

Today's featured report has a very happy ending. Recently, Rob (jrkirkham) had a request from a woman he met at a funeral to observe through his scope. As it turns out, an evening was selected on the calendar but when the day came, the woman was nowhere to be found and Rob had to conduct a solo session, which is common for all of us observers.

Then he heard from the woman after a couple of days. She is 88 years young and in fact, had never looked though a telescope. It turns out that Rob knows her son who is around the same age as he is. At his observatory they were able to peer at the heavens and catch Mars and Venus. Mars was unimpressive to her as it can be when it is a tiny disk and not at opposition. Venus did the trick, however, revealing its phase. Congratulations Rob on a high quality and unique report and on winning the VROD for the day!
