Many folks can only observe from very light polluted locatioms such as city centers. Oftentimes the advice to these observers is stick with the moon and planets, which can still be easily found and offer interesting views. Some folks go a step further and attempt DSO observations from conditions such as Bortle 9, the dreaded "white zone."
