"Lyrid Meteor Shower Observation"

Meteor showers are one of the most interesting phenomena in the skies above us, but something where telescopes and even binoculars are completely useless. That is, one must observe them with the naked eye. Unitron48 (Dave) stayed up late to observe this season's shower, the Lyrids which appear to originate from a spot near the constellation. As Dave points out, the Lyrids represent debris from comet Thatcher, which won't be seen again from Earth until the 23rd century. Originally noted by Chinese astronomers some 2500 years ago, it is one of the more documented shower occurences. Congratulations Dave on the fine report and on winning the VROD for the day!
